Nawanshahr, August 7

Bhagirth Singh Meena, SSP, Nawanshahr, has appealed the society to extend support for drive against drugs. The SSP was addressing awareness drive under the massive campaign of district police against drugs at Khanpur village.

“We all are equally responsible for the youth of any family falling prey to drug addiction”, said the SSP adding that when a youngster in a family starts living alone away from the family, one should immediately take a serious note of it and counsel him and should spend maximum time with the youth to keep them far away from the drugs and crimes.

He said, “If bad company can spoil someone, then good company can also bring him back from the wrong path to the mainstream of society.”

The police are following a policy of zero tolerance towards drug traffickers, he said. “If people have any information on drug smugglers in the district, immediately contact the district police’s ‘Anti-Drug Helpline’ number 98550-49550,” said SSP adding that WhatsApp messages can also be sent on this number. The name and address of the informer will be kept confidential, he gave assurance.

He said the police had launched anti-drug abuse awareness campaign in the district from July 30.
