Jalandhar: Sarojini Naidu’s birth anniversary was celebrated at DIPS School, Bhogpur. The students started the programme by offering flowers to the portrait of Sarojini Naidu. Poetry, singing and poster making activity were organised on this occasion. In poetry singing, children presented poems written by them. The children told their classmates that Sarojini Naidu was a political activist of the freedom movement as well as a poet. She is called Bharat Nightingale. She never let his political journey affect his work. She would always write along with the freedom struggle. Sarojini Naidu was given the title of Kaiser-e-Hind by the Government of India in 1908. She was the first Governor of India and the first President of Mahila Congress. Principal Gurveen Kaur said Sarojini Naidu is an inspiration for girls not only in the times of Independence but even today. At the age of 12, she started writing articles and poems in big newspapers. She has made a huge contribution in the field of literature which can never be forgotten.

Posters for Right to Vote

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organised a special activity in view of the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. The activity was organised by PG Department of Fine Arts. During this, the students made and displayed various beautiful posters based on the importance of elections and the Right to Vote. Through their posters, students displayed the proper use of the Right to Vote as the fundamental responsibility of all citizens, at the same time they also talked about the valuable contribution made in the development of the country by the election of a right government in a healthy democracy. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts made by the Fine Arts Department for this special effort and also encouraged everyone to make their contribution in nation building positively by using their right to vote.

Career counselling for Class X

A career counselling session for Class X was organised at Innocent Hearts under the ‘Disha-Ek Initiative’ run by the Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, in which the children showed their interest. In this counselling session, Dr Dheeraj Banati and Prof Rahul Jain made the students aware of the four streams (medical, non-medical, commerce, humanities) and skill courses. Prof Rahul Jain (Deputy Director Schools and Colleges) guided the students about apt streams required for their career building in their choicest profession. He said students should choose the relevant stream with great gravity and focus without any pressure. Dr Banati enlightened the students about vocational skills courses. He gave information about career planning to the students through the ‘Six Steps’, using the acronym ‘SPRINT’. He asked the students to bring forward their passion so that they can get more chances of getting success. He gave information about the Skill India Movement ascertained in the New Education Policy.

World Human Spirit Day observed

Eklavya School observed World Human Spirit Day in the campus. To throw some light on this day our educator Gaurav shared valuable knowledge about this day. Seema Handa, Director of Eklavya School, said “This day is a celebration of continuity, of hope, of awareness, an occasion for us all to connect spiritually, to gaze at the universe beyond our worldly bodies.” JK Gupta Chairperson of Eklavya School, appreciated the teachers’ efforts to celebrate such days in the school. Komal Arora, Principal of Eklavya School, added, “It is a day to wonder at our achievements on this planet as humans, and to contemplate the endless possibilities we have as spirits.”. Dimple Malhotra, administrator of Eklavya School, said such days should be continued to observed to enhance spiritual level of coming generations.

lpu Student for Para World meet

Jyoti Baliyan, BA-III student at Lovely Professional University, has recently been selected for Para World Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Dubai from February 19 to 27. With dexterity in handling bow and arrows, Jyoti is now aiming to grab the top medal of the prestigious World Archery Para Championship for India. Hailing from a middle class farmer family of Uttar Pradesh, Jyoti Baliyan suffers from polio. She could not become the volleyball player of her dreams, however, her indomitable spirit made her one of the top para-archers in the world. LPU is providing her 100% scholarship to her be able to fulfill her aspirations of both sports and studies, said Chancellor Ashok Mittal.
