Saplings distributed among Jalandhar villagers

Study material given to 100 needy students

On the occasion of International Day of Cooperatives, city based NGO EduYouth Foundation in collaboration with Department of Cooperation, Punjab, organised a tree plantation drive and books donation drive at The Sammipur Cooperative Agricultural Multipurpose Society Ltd at Sammipur village here on Saturday.

More than 200 saplings of various trees were planted and distributed among local residents. Besides, study material including notebooks, pencils, sharpeners, erasers and scales along with refreshments were distributed among 100 students.

Prof Kanwar Sartaj Singh, president, EduYouth Foundation, said considering current weather conditions of Punjab, it is our moral responsibility to plant more and more trees in our homes and society for a better future. “We are coming up with many more such activities for the welfare of society in the coming days,” he added. Assistant Registrar Rohit Kumar said students are the future of our nation and we must give in our best efforts in order to provide them with maximum resources to perform well in the field of education.
