On a complaint lodged by one Jaswinder Kaur, a resident of JP Nagar, Jalandhar, the Nurmahal police have arrested a property dealer and booked a father and his daughter on the charges of fraud and criminal conspiracy.

The complainant told the police that Triptjit Singh and his daughter Navneet Kaur approached her with the accused property dealer, Iqbal Singh, a resident of Lallian Kalan village at Lambra, and offered to sell a plot in Bilga village owned by Navreet Kaur. They convinced her to buy the plot saying it had proper documents and wasn’t involved in any legal dispute.

She said she paid Rs 21.50 lakh to the father-daughter duo and a sale deed was registered in this connection in the Nurmahal sub-registrar office on April 1 last year.

Jaswinder Kaur said the mutation of the 3-kanal plot was not sanctioned in her name and she received a notice from a court that Navneet Kaur has already sold this land in 2018. She then approached police against the accused.

The Investigation Officer said a case under Sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating) 465 (punishment for forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (fraud) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code had been registered against the accused.
