Nakodar: The Sadar police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), who was absconding for the past four years. Investigating officer Jasvir Singh said the accused had been identified as Gagan Deep Singh, alias Gagan, a resident of Gill village. The accused is wanted in a case of theft. OC

Three booked in dowry case

Shahkot: The police have booked there persons of family in a dowry harassment case. The suspects have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Punia village, his father Surinder Pal Singh and mother Parveen Latta Kaur. Hardeep Kaur, wife of Gurpreet Singh, complained to the police that she was being tortured for dowry ever since her marriage. Investigating officer Kashmir Singh said a case under Sections 406 and 498-A had been registered against the suspects. OC

Cash, jewellery, mobike stolen

Nurmahal: The Bilga police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing cash, jewellery and a motorcycle from a house. Dass Ram Leel, a resident of Pati Bhoja Bilga village, complained to the police that thieves barged into his house after breaking open the locks. They stole cash, gold jewellery, a motorcycle and other household items. Investigating officer Anwar Masih said a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC had been registered against the suspects. OC

Three held with banned vials

Hoshiarpur: The district police have arrested three smugglers and recovered a huge quantity of drugs from their possession. According to information, the Garhshankar police arrested Shankar Das and Manpreet, residents of Beenewal village, and recovered intoxicating injections and pills from them. The Mahilpur police arrested Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Posi village, and recovered a large number of intoxicating injections from him.
