Phagwara: Five POs land in police net

Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), Sonu, a resident of Luhara village in Jalandhar. He was wanted in a case of illegal mining. The Nakodar city police arrested another PO, Sukhchain Singh, a resident of Amritsar district, in a case of theft. In another case, the Mehat Pur police arrested a PO, Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Gounsu Wal village, in a case of selling illicit liquor. Meanwhile the Nurmahal police arrested two POs - Jaswant Singh, a resident of Gounsu Wal village, who was wanted in a case of illegal mining, and Avtar Singh, a resident of Ludhiana district, who wanted in a case of theft. Thieves strike at two places

Hoshiarpur: A bag containing Rs 2.30 lakh in cash and shagun envelopes was stolen from a marriage palace on the Tanda road. According to information, Surinder Kumar, a resident of Railway Mandi, told the police that he handed over the bag containing cash to his maternal uncle Omkar Singh. In the morning, his maternal uncle told him that the bag was missing. In another case, thieves targeted a house and stole gold and silver jewellery ornaments. Annu, a resident of New Model Town, told the police that thieves struck at her house and stole gold and silver ornaments. The police have registered cases in this regard. OC

3 nabbed for snatching

Hoshiarpur: The police arrested three persons for snatching. According to information, ASI Amarjeet Singh, posted at the City police station, said Harish Chander, a resident of Committee Bazaar, stated that a person snatched his mobile phone near Bhangi Cho. The police arrested the suspect identified as Karan Kumar, alias Tony, a resident of Shakti Nagar. Nawab, a resident of Mahilpur, told the police that three youths came to him and purchased jackets from his vend. When he asked them to pay money, the suspects started threatening him. They snatched Rs 3,200 from him and fled the spot. The Chabbewal police arrested two suspects – Vansh, alias Sonu, a resident of Hariana, and Simon, a resident of Basi Kale Khan. The police have recovered three jackets from the suspects and seized their vehicle. OC

2 smugglers arrested

Hoshiarpur: The police arrested two smugglers and recovered intoxicating powder from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Hardeep Singh, alias Deep, a resident of Sherpur Galind, and Chetan Kumar Babbal, a resident of Bhawani Nagar. According to information, the police recovered 214 grams of intoxicating powder from them.
