The MLA said the project constructed at a cost of Rs2.28 crore was completed within a record time of three months. He said a steel cover shed worth Rs85 lakh, a large platform (sitting area for vendors) worth Rs83 lakhs and parking place along with another platform worth Rs60 lakhs had been raised. He said the new fruit and vegetable market would directly or indirectly benefit more than 5,000 people. He said the farmers of Jalandhar Cantt constituency, Nakodar, Kala Sanghia Road, and Jandiala area would bring their produce here, which would benefit farmers, farm labourers, commission agents and transporters. Earlier, traders had to go to Maqsudan Sabzi Mandi to buy these essential commodities, which caused them huge trouble. TNS
