NCC cadet honoured

Jalandhar: Lyallpur Khalsa College organised a function to felicitate an NCC cadet who had been a part of Republic Day function. Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra said cadet Kanwaljit Singh (Army wing), representing the college in the Republic Day celebrations, has taken this trend even further. Cadets have to go through a difficult selection process to participate in R- Day parade. The students participating in the Republic Day can be part of the Indian Army without taking any written test. Cadet Kanwaljit Singh is currently pursuing BA. In this selection process, he was first selected in 2 Punjab Battalion and then in Group Headquarters, Jalandhar. NCC Officer Dr Karanbir Singh thanked the Principal and the Governing Council for the facilities provided by the college.

Webinar on Cyber Security Challenges

Faculty of Engineering, Design and Automation organised an International Webinar on ‘Current Challenges in the field of Cyber Security’ for the students of Computer Science Engineering. The keynote speaker of the webinar was Dr Ioan- Cosmin MIHAI, Cyber Security Officer, Romania. Iaon- Cosmin MIHAI, a researcher, professor, trainer and conference speaker with an experience of more than 15 years in cyber crime and cyber security. Dr Cosmin explained the important issues of cyber security like principles of cyber security, risks, assets, threats, and vulnerabilities in system/network. The speaker also spoke about online transaction security, email account security, social media advantages and disadvantages.

Digital platform for students

With the launching of SOFOS digital platform, Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Schools have become the first schools in Jalandhar to provide digital platform to its students. As SOFOS platform blends the best of cutting edge students information, management, adaptive learning, digital communication to ensure high quality learning. Parents will have easy access to their child’s profile, result, school fees and notice, time table and home work, registration and new admission, dash boards, transportation management and library management too is part of the access students will be able to take. President Naresh Kumar Budhia launched digital platform on February 15 in the presence of members of the management.

World Radio Day observed

Various activities were organised at DIPS College of Education on World Radio Day. Poster and collage making activity was organised on this occasion. The students told through the poster that radio is such a medium of mass communication through which the message can still be conveyed to innumerable people. Throughout history radio has played an important role in exchanging information and educating people around the world. In today’s time, radio is very cheap old medium so it is used. The Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi also uses radio to talk to the countrymen and students about his mind. During the poetry recital, children presented poems written by Sarojini Naidu on the occasion of her birthday.

Students get jobs

During the third wave of pandemic this year, 62 students of CT Group were selected for the jobs. The students were offered with outstanding opportunities to obtain real world experience and gain in-depth knowledge of industry on how it works. Some of the recruiting companies included names like Jaro Education, IDFC Bank, BYJU’S (Think & Learn Pvt. Ltd.), Upgrad, Wipro, TCS, Infosys and many more in all sectors including Management, Engineering, Hotel Management, computer applications and pharmaceuticals for internships as well as placements. Selected candidates were offered the pay packages ranging from Rs2.9 lakh to 12.95 lakh per annum.

World Human spirit Day observed

Eklavya School, Jalandhar, observed World Human Spirit Day on the campus. To throw some light on this day, educator Gaurav shared valuable knowledge about this day. A day to search within for contentedness and to embrace the fact that we do not have all the answers and that may be for the best. A day to give a higher power thanks for what we have and what we don’t have, for making us who we are and for giving us the ability to touch others. Human values workshop was conducted for senior school students. Middle school students did meditation on this day. Seema Handa, Director of Eklavya School, said “This day is a celebration of continuity, of hope, of awareness, an occasion for us all to connect spiritually, to gaze at the universe beyond our worldly bodies.”

Extension Lecture at DAV College

Hoshiarpur: The Research and Extension Committee of the DAV College of Education, Hoshiarpur, organised an online extension lecture on Role of Education in Inculcation of Values. Dr Gurmeet Singh, member senate, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Associate Prof, Malwa Central College of Education, Ludhiana was the Resource Person of the lecture. Principal Dr Vidhi Bhalla accorded welcome to the guest speaker. While interacting with the participants Dr Gurmeet Singh shed light on role of education in inculcation of values among the students.

Seminar on Voters’ Awareness

Talwara: Voting in a democratic country is no less than a festival and this is an important day for us. School Director Deshraj Sharma in a seminar on ‘Voters Awareness’ organised by NSS Unit at SD Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir Talwara in order to ensure that there is 100 per cent voting in the Vidhan Sabha elections being held in Punjab. Preet Kohli, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Hoshiarpur, addressing the teachers and students, said that the voter should cast his/her vote by reviewing all aspects, without any greed or fear, to elect the right representative for the development of the country in right direction. /OC
