National Doctors’ Day: Five Jalandhar doctors felicitated for services under Ayushman Bharat scheme

Five doctors were honoured in the district on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day by Civil Surgeon Dr Raman Sharma on Friday. They were accorded for their services under the Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme.

The doctors who were felicitated included Dr Avinash Gupta, Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH), Nakodar; Dr Alexander Singh, Shankar Community Health Centre (CHC); Dr Sarabjit Singh, Kartarpur CHC; Dr Bhupinder Singh and Dr Abhishek Sacchar of Jalandhar Civil Hospital.

The Civil Surgeon said the day is being observed in honour of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy since July 1, 1991. The aim of the day is to appreciate the health services being provided by doctors and to emphasise the significance of doctors in the lives of people. He said on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, 107 doctors were awarded at the state level for providing exemplary services under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and five in Jalandhar. Dr Sharma said amid the Covid pandemic many doctors, staff nurses and paramedical staff extended their services by putting their own lives at risk.

Phagwara docs honoured

Phagwara: Five doctors of the Phagwara Civil Hospital — Dr Simardeep Kaur, Dr Manjit Nagra, Dr Ravi Kumar, Dr Sukhwinderpal Singh and Dr Davinderpal Singh — were felicitated by the Kapurthala Civil Surgeon on Doctors’ Day today.

On the occasion, certificates of recognition were given to the doctors. Phagwara Senior Medical Officer Dr Kamal Kishore was also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, doctors and staff of the Phagwara Civil Hospital also planted saplings on the hospital premises to mark the day.

Cycle rally organised

The Phagwara unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) headed by IMA president Dr Sohan Lal organised a cycle rally to mark National Doctors’ Day on Friday.

The cycle rally which was organised to inspire people to do cycling for better health was flagged off by renowned physician Dr S Mahindra from a blood bank in Hargobind Nagar early this morning. Various doctors, including Dr Anoop, JS Virk, GB Singh, Ashok Ghumber, Dr Mittra, Anil Tandon and Tushar Aggarwal, participated in the rally. — OC
