Kapurthala, June 16

In a gruesome incident, a man killed his 80-year-old mother by hitting her on the head with a rod after she refused to pay him money he had been asking and kept her body in the house for one week.

The incident was reported from Jawala Singh Nagar in Sultanpur Lodhi where Kulwinder Kaur was done to death by her younger son Dalbir Singh. The incident was reported when the tenants of Kulwinder returned after spending vacation at a relative’s place and suspected something wrong as a foul smell was emanating from the house.

Tenant Sonia called up the police who found the body of the elderly woman lying on the floor of the house. The victim’s elder son Davinder Singh, who resides in Bhooton village, too was called. He told the police that he suspected his younger brother Dalbir Singh, who had returned from England and used to pester her for money.

The police have arrested Dalbir Singh, who has confessed to the crime. SSP Rajbachan Singh Sandhu said further investigation into the matter were being done.
