Hoshiarpur cricketer Surbhi selected for U-23 Punjab team

Cricketer Surbhi has been selected in the Punjab team for under-23 National Women’s Tournament. The event is organised by the BCCI. Hoshiarpur District Cricket Association (HDCA) secretary Dr Raman Ghai said the 16-year-old Class IX student of Woodland Overseas School had earlier played in the under-15 and19 tournaments for the Punjab team. Surbhi had played an important role in helping the Punjab team win while playing in the under-19 and due to her good performance in the Punjab U-23 camp, she got a place in the Punjab team. Ghai said the Punjab U-23 women’s team will play a practice match in Rajasthan before participating in the U-23 Women’s National Tournament to be held in Uttarakhand. Expressing happiness over Surbhi’s selection, Ghai said the day is not far when Hoshiarpur’s promising player Surbhi will bring glory to the city by playing in the national team. HDCA president Dr Daljeet Khela has also expressed happiness over Surbhi’s selection and congratulated her on behalf of HDCA. He said that apart from Surbhi, Hoshiarpur’s Pooja, Anjali Shimmer, Shivani, Nirankar and Baljeet, Suhana, Vanshika and Jasmine have played in important sporting events. On the success of Surbhi, district coach Davinder Kalyan, district coach Daljit Singh, district trainer and former national cricketer Kuldeep Dhami and coach Daljit Dhiman congratulated her.
