Goods worth lakhs destroyed in fire at electronics shop

Phagwara, February 3

A shop — Vishawkarma Electronics — near Dussehra ground in Shahkot was gutted in a devastating fire which broke out last night. Fire tenders from Nakodar and Shahkot were pressed into service to douse the blaze. The fire could be brought under control after more than two hours efforts.

The roof of the shop collapsed and goods worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes in the fire. Shop owner Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Toot village near Shahkot, said the total loss was estimated at

Rs 10 lakh. The exact cause of fire was yet to be ascertained.
