Jalandhar: Gang preparing fake CBSE, open school certificates busted, 2 held

School principal among suspects; 600 fake certificates recovered

The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate claimed to have busted a gang involved in making fake CBSE and open school certificates.

Modus operandi

Talking about the modus operandi, Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma said Anurag Dabur, who is the principal of a private school, used to collect data from students and send it to Raghav. Raghav then used to create fake certificates from the data. The gang used to sell these certificates at prices ranging between Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000. Further investigations were on in the case.

Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma said the police got a tip-off that a gang involved in making fake CBSE and open school certificates was operating in the city.

After getting information, the police started investigations into the matter and arrested two persons — Anurag Dabur, principal of a school and a resident of New Vinay Nagar in Lamma Pind, and Raghav Chadha, a resident of Mohalla Fatehpuri, Tanda Road.

Sharma said a case under Sections 465, 467, 468, 471 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 66-D of the IT Act was registered against the suspect at the Division No. 8 police station.

Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said the gang operated in a highly sophisticated manner and was involved in making fake certificates on a high scale. During search, the police recovered a computer set, a printer and approximately 600 fake certificates from their possession.
