Jalandhar: A folk song competition was organised by the Amrita Pritam Sahit Sabha of the Department of Punjabi of PCM SD College for Women. In this competition, students from different streams participated enthusiastically. The judges of the competition were Anu Bala, Department of Music, and Dr Surinder Kaur and Akwinder Kaur from Department of Punjabi. Navroop Kaur from B.Com Semester VI got first, Ramandeep Kaur and Harsharan Kaur of BA Semester IV second and Darshan Kaur of BA Semester II secured third position. The members of the managing committee and the worthy Principal Dr Pooja Prashar congratulated the winners. She also praised the efforts of the Department of Punjabi for organising such events for the all-round development of the students.

University toppers

The students of BA Semester 3rd and Semester 5th of Apeejay College of Fine Arts made their college proud by scoring good marks in Guru Nanak Dev University exams. Madhvi Bawra (semester 3rd) scored 380 out of 400 (95 pc) and Jasleen Kaur Bhogal (BA Semester 5th) scored 372 out of 400 (93 pc). Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra congratulated the students and appreciated Dr Amita Mishra and Dr Raman Dhadra for their efficient teaching methodology, which lead to such incredible results.

Poetic Orations

The Division of Arts and Culture at Lovely Professional University organised a one-day ‘Kavi Sammelan’- Kavita ke Rang, Baisakhi kei Sang’ to celebrate Baisakhi. The verses mainly highlighted the need for universal brotherhood, peace, humanity, friendliness and mutual understanding. Five eminent poets from various parts of the country shared together the poetic-dais with their unique talent. The poetic stage was graced by world-renowned poets — Dr Shyam Vashishtha (writer and poet), Vibhor Chaudhary (standup comedian and TV artiste), Sudeep Bhola (international poet), Varun Anand (international gazal singer) and Dheerendra Singh (national poet and debater). National safety week

Eklavya School celebrate National Safety Week to make the students aware about their safety. It is a weak to raise awareness and commitment to the safety protocols that need to be followed to prevent accidents and mishaps at workplaces. The objective of this day is to help the general public and employees to work carefully by adhering to all safety norms. Through this special weak, the National Safety Council increases the awareness of all safety measures, including workplace safety, safety of human health, road safety, as well as the environment. Safety Drill was done. .

Foundation Day of Shiv Jyoti School

Celebration of the 35th Foundation Day of Shiv Jyoti Public School was held with havan yajna and a prize distribution function. Programme started with Jyoti Prajawalan and Saraswati Vandana. Students of Class XIl Chesta and Siddhi Sharma enlivened their memories of the previous year with special mention of their class experiences. Diya Sharma of Class XII in her speech extended her heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers, Principal and Administrative faculty on behalf of Class 12th students since their first day till Class 12th. The main attraction of the event was group song, fusion of classical and folk that stole the show completely and a self-composed poem by Chetan Sharma of Class XIl.

Baisakhi celebrated

Dps, Jalandhar, celebrated Baisakhi with the participation of the Primary classes 1 to 5 with great enthusiasm and festivity. The participants were adorned in Punjabi traditional attire. The entire atmosphere echoed with rhythmic music that was entirely mesmerising. Students presented traditional bhangra and giddha on the stage, the ambience was so energetic. Ramandeep kaur, coordinator, DPS School, addressed the children thereby adding to the importance of instilling in them the empathy to nurture the societal well being with empathy and oneness.

Ambedkar Jayanti celebrated

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti with full zeal and enthusiasm to commemorate the 131st birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The celebrations were organised jointly by Department of Student Welfare, PG Department of English and PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. The celebrations were organised in order to disseminate the ideology of social equality of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar amongst the students. On this occasion, various activities such as seminar, quiz competition and declamation were organised for the students.
