Farewell party

Jalandhar: The Gurukul School organised a farewell party for Class XII students on its premises. Director Sushma Handa and principal Radha Gakhar performed the lamp lightning ceremony. Students were dressed in beautiful and colourful attires. Various cultural items, including group dance and farewell songs were presented by students. Certain one-minute games were played by the students, including modeling by catwalk and tiger walk respectively by girls and boys. The Master Gurukul Harsh Kumar Bhatoa, Miss Gurukul Priya Sharma and various other titles were given to students. The principal wished the students welfare and advised them to prepare themselves for exams and to serve the nation.

Workshop on productivity

Jalandhar: DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, in association with National Productivity Council, Chandigarh, and Laghu Udyog Bharti, organised a one-day workshop-cum-executive development programme on ‘productivity improvement through lean manufacturing, smart manufacturing and additive manufacturing’. The workshop, that was organised as part of National Productivity Week of National Productivity Council Chandigarh, which is observed from February 12-18 every year. The event was attended by Arvind Dhumal, president, Laghu Udyog Bharti (Punjab), Dr Manoj Kumar, principal, DAVIET, Harish Gupta, president, Laghu Udyog Bharti (Jalandhar), SP Singh, Regional Director, NPC, Chandigarh and other industrialists of Jalandhar. The keynote speakers of the workshop were Dr Rupinder Singh, Prof, Mechanical Engineering Department, NITTTR, Chandigarh, Rajesh Solanki and Ankur Dhir, empanelled consultants, NPC, India. Dr Gaurav Dhuria, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, welcomed the guests. Dr Rupinder Singh expressed his views on ‘waste minimisation through additive manufacturing’.

Annual day celebrated

Jalandhar: Police DAV Public School organised the Annual Day for the pre-primary wing titled ‘Children of the World’. The function commenced with the lighting of lamp by the chief guest MK Tiwari, DGP-cum- MD/PPHC, Chandigarh, and Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, special DGP, Armed Battalions, Punjab, Jalandhar along with the principal Dr Rashmi Vij and Savita Sharma, supervisory head of the pre-primary wing. The main presentation of the evening the dance drama ‘children of the world’ was an attempt to present how we can spread love, compassion and universal brotherhood and crate a peaceful world for our progeny and how our conscious efforts right from the beginning will nurture a harmonious balance in children. It was prepared by music, dance and dramatic department of the school in which Japanese, Egyptian, African and Arabian dances were presented.

Guest lecture on GST

Jalandhar: The PG department of commerce and business administration organised a guest lecture on GST. The resource persons were DS Garcha, Assistant Commissioner, Excise and Taxation (ETO) Jalandhar and Sumit Thapar, (ETO) Jalandhar. The speakers were given floral welcome by the Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra along with HoD commerce department, Dr Rashpal Singh Sandhu. Resource person Sumit Thapar gave an overview of GST along with the explanation on various queries asked by the students. He also elaborated that main issue of decline in collection of GST is the economic slowdown in the market. The purpose of GST is to ensure one tax one nation as well as simplification of indirect taxation both for goods and services. Various teams, relating to GST including ITC, TCS, IGST, UGST, CGST & SGST place of supply in case of e-commerce players were discussed in detail along with practical examples.

Annual fete

Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV) organised its Annual fete KMV Carnival of budding entrepreneurs to provide a break from the academic routine. The chief guests for the inaugural ceremony of the Chander Mohan (president, Arya Shiksha Mandal) and Neerja Chander Mohan (member, KMV managing committee). The college wore a colorful and festive look on this day as various number of stalls were donned up with mouth watering delicacies, various handmade articles, fun games, selfie station, dizzy rides and DJ. Mom and Baby Twinning Show was also organised, in which adorable babies, took part along with their mothers. The event concluded with a raffle draw.

Guest Lecture on digital marketing

Jalandhar: The PG department of commerce of the Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women organised a guest lecture on ‘Digital Marketing’ by Prof Parul Nanda. She has an academic experience of seven years. She shared information on digitisation which is rapidly increasing in 21st century. She further insisted on increase of Internet users in the country with each passing day. Principal Dr Navjot appreciated the PG department of commerce for organising such lectures. TNS
