Jalandhar, August 5

Congress workers under the leadership of senior Congress councillor Balraj Thakur held a protest against the Centre outside the District Administrative Complex on Friday.

The workers said the government was responsible for inflation which was troubling people. Jalandhar Mayor Jagdish Raja was also present at the protest. A march was held in which the workers held posters attacking the Union Government.

Slogans against the Centre and in praise of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were raised. Balraj Thakur said the government was solely responsible for whatever problems a citizen of the country was going through.

“Even making two ends meet has become a task now. Earning bread and butter is not easy, and unemployment has hit the youngsters. This is how people are living in this nation,” Balraj Thakur said during the protest.

Apart from the protest, absence of several Congress councillors also raised eyebrows. There are reports that some of them will send their resignation to the Punjab Congress Committee president soon.
