Jalandhar, February 24

A delegation of the Coaching Federation of India (CFI), Punjab chapter, led by Prof MP Singh, met Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and senior IAS officer and DGSE Vinay Bublani. They handed over a memorandum to them, urging non-implementation of recently issued coaching guidelines from the Centre, particularly ban on students below 16 years or those still completing secondary education from joining coaching centres.

They argued that the age restriction imposed by the Central Government seems illogical and contrary to psychological principles, noting that children learn better in familiar environments.

They emphasised that parents voluntarily enrol their children in coaching institutes and the Central Government should respect parental autonomy. The delegation stressed the importance of having a representative from the Coaching Federation in the regulatory body.

Minister Harjot Singh Bains, meanwhile, assured them that the guidelines would be implemented with consideration for the welfare of students and parents of children aged below 16. He proposed conducting a survey, if necessary, to ensure informed implementation.
