Cancer screening camp held for jail inmates

Kapurthala, December 12

A cancer screening camp was organised on the premises of the Central Jail here by teams of specialist doctors from the World Cancer Care and Civil Hospital, Kapurtha la, on Thursday.

During the camp, over 1,000 inmates were examined and given prescriptions and free medicines. Six vans of the World Cancer Care and 42 doctors rendered their services during the camp.

District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman DLSA Kapurthala Kishore Kumar and Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda inaugurated the camp.

On the occasion, Superintendent of Jail SP Khanna stated that the camp eased the problem of escorting huge numbers of prisoners to specialised hospitals. He also expressed special thanks to the World Cancer Care and Civil Hospital for conducting the camp.

CJM Ajit Pal Singh, SDM Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Civil Surgeon Dr Jasmeet Bawa, DSP Harinder Singh Gill, Dr Dharminder Dhillon, Dr Navneet Kaur and other doctors of the World Cancer Care, Civil Hospital and jail officials were also present on the occassion.
