BKU (Ugrahan) makes Shahkot barrier toll-free

Farmers associated with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan) laid siege to the NHAI toll barrier at Bahmanian village between Shahkot and Moga and made it toll free for commuters.

‘To remain there till Sunday’

Manjit Singh, a farmer of the area, said they would continue to stay put at the site till Sunday evening as per the directions of their party president Joginder Singh Ugrahan.

Holding flags of the BKU (Ugrahan), around 25 farmers sat on the platform of the toll plaza at 9 am today, taking control of it.

The staff stopped levying toll charges from commuters and removed all check posts.

Manjit Singh, a farmer of the area, said they would continue to stay put at the site till Sunday evening as per the directions of their party president Joginder Singh Ugrahan.

He said they would follow further course of action which could be joining the protest at Shambhu or continuing the protests locally. Farmers of the union had made the same the toll barrier free on February 15 as well.
