Awareness van flagged off

Jalandhar: Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Kaur Chawla on Tuesday flagged off an awareness van to sensitise people about various non-communicable diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, heart diseases, cancer, stroke etc. Dr Chawla, accompanied by Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Gurmeet Kaur Duggal, said the van would display videos on the LED and aware people on audio-visual address system. She said this van would reach out to various areas and villages of the district. She said people above 30 must undergo BP and diabetes tests regularly. To avoid non-communicable diseases, fast food, unhygienic street foods, alcohol, and tobacco must be avoided and physical exercise must be part of daily routine, she added. Prominent among present on the occasion included district epidemiologist Dr Satish Kumar and others. TNS
