Artworks of 37 artistes from country on display at Virsa Vihar in Jalandhar

‘Prayas: Ek Koshish’, an organisation that has been working to promote artworks of artistes from across the country, organised a National Art Exhibition here on Sunday at Virsa Vihar.

Dr Karuna Mohindra, Director, TAC Art Gallery, Ludhiana, was the chief guest, while Dr Jaspal, an eminent artist of India, and Brijesh Jolly, Director KT - Kala Art Gallery Amritsar, presided over the function as guests of honour.

Around 70 artworks of 37 artists from across the country were displayed in the exhibition. The artworks of artists Basudev Biswas, Gurpreet Bathinda and Harjinder Singh Bhatti were displayed at the event.

The Chairman of ‘Prayas: Ek Koshish’, VK Gharu, and Secretary Jaswant Sultanpuri while thanking all the artistes for participating in the event, said their organisation would continue to work for uplift of art and culture and would come up with more such events in the near future.

A book release function was also held. The book ‘Art and Artist’- International Contemporary Artist, edited by VK Gharu, was released by chief guest Dr Karuna Mohindra and guests of honour Jaspal’s and Brijesh Jolly.

Talking about the book, VK Gharu said this is his second book about art and artists. He said he has previously published a book with the same title in which art and life of an Indian artist is included, however in this second book, he approached artists from more than 15 countries and worked hard for over a year to get their works published. “In the book, the paintings of 60 artists and aspects of their life and art have been published,” he added.

Artistes including Harmesh Lal, Amandeep Kaur, Sanjana Devi, Gurpreet, Adab, Gayatri Verma, Virendra Kumar, Shashikant Rampal, Jaswant Sultanpuri, Sarabjit Batala, Neeru Grover, Harinder Singh Bhatti, Jaspreet Mohan Singh, Anukar Aggarwal, Shweta Mehra, charanjit and among others were present on the occasion.
