After protest by Dal Khalsa, PRTC withdraws poster ban

Conceding to the demand of the protesting Dal Khalsa and other Sikh organisations, the Pepsu Road Transport Corportation (PRTC) has withdrawn its earlier order to remove the pictures of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and Jagtar Singh Hawara from government buses.

Enraged with the PRTC’s order, the Sikh groups had warned the PRTC to withdraw it by Tuesday. The PRTC General Manager of Bathinda zone, in a written order, took back its earlier decision of July 1 and conveyed it to the protesting organisations led by the Dal Khalsa.

Party spokesman Paramjit Singh Mand informed mediapersons that they had got the letter from the PRTC from Bathinda mentioning the withdrawal of the order. Hundreds of youth associated with the Dal Khalsa carrying pictures of Bhindranwale and Hawara marched in Jalandhar on Saturday.

When some youths pasted a few posters on the moving buses, it led to a minor scuffle between police personnel and them. Later on, the situation was normalised with the Manager of Punjab Roadways promising to resolve the issue by Tuesday. Following which, the decision was taken today.
