Kapurthala, March 30

Three youths from villages of Bholath town near here have gone missing since last afternoon after they reportedly went to the banks of the Beas near Dhilwan to catch fish.

The missing youths, Sukhwinder Singh and Jackson from Raipur Araian village and Satnam Singh from Bhakuwal village, were friends. They were sitting idle at their homes since the curfew was imposed in the state.

“While one of them was a tailor, the other was a butcher and the third person used to work at a medical store. Since they were without work for the past few days, yesterday they planned to do some adventure and catch fish from the river,” said Inspector Bikramjit Singh, SHO, Dhilwan police station.

The police said they found some of their belongings, including clothes, slippers, a motorcycle and parts of fishing equipment, from the banks of the river.

The SHO said 12 divers had been deployed today to trace the youths but they had failed to get any clue till this evening. Local residents, who gathered on the spot in a large number to search for the youths, said two of them were married.
