Jalandhar, January 25

Two dreaded criminals associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, who were shot at and injured in an encounter and arrested by the Jalandhar police recently, are allegedly involved in the murder of two persons at Garhi Kanugo village of Balachaur.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Swapan Sharma said based on intelligence inputs, two gangsters of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested by the police on Sunday after an encounter. He said both gangsters — Ashish Kumar, alias Ashu, of Sham Churasi in Hoshiarpur, and Nitin, alias Nannu, of Guru Nanak Pura in Jalandhar — were injured during heavy cross firing.

The CP said both gangsters were proclaimed offenders and were wanted in several cases of extortion, drug trafficking, illegal arms trade and murder.

The CP said during interrogation, both gangsters confessed to have killed Narinder Singh and Narwinder Singh of Garhi Kanugo village, Balachaur, on August 29 last year. The CP said an FIR No. 50 was registered at the Balachaur city police station in this regard.

The CP said the motive behind murders was a five-year-old rivalry. Earlier, three accused Anmol Singh, Jaskamalpreet Singh and Mukesh Kumar were arrested in this connection while the two gangsters were absconding.

The CP said seven FIRs were registered against Ashish at Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar police stations. He said three FIRs and one DDR was registered against Nitin at police stations in Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar.
