Patiala man held for writing Khalistan slogans in Jalandhar

The city police claimed to have arrested a person in Laxmipura case of reportedly writing pro-Khalistan slogans on the walls in the city on the intervening night of June 14 and 15.

The accused has been identified as Manjeet Singh of Duldhi village in Patiala. The police said similar cases had been registered against him in Karnal and other districts of Punjab. He was brought to Jalandhar from a Karnal jail on Tuesday on a production warrant and is under arrest for further investigation.

The police said Manjeet was paid for writing pro-Khalistan slogans on the wall. “During questioning, he revealed that some unknown persons came in contact with him through social media, who offered him money for writing pro-Khalistan comments on Facebook, YouTube and other channels,” the police added. Police officials said a case under various Sections of the IPC had been registered against him.
