V-P of Municipal Committee abducted in North Kashmir; rescued

Police suspect militants behind the abduction

Srinagar, July 15

Unknown men, who are suspected to be militants, abducted an urban local body member in North Kashmir on Wednesday morning, said officials.

He was rescued later, police said in the evening. 

They said that Vice President of Municipal Committee Watergam Baramulla, Mehraj ud Din Malla, was on foot when a private car halted and was wishked away. 

A massive search was launched in the area. 

Police sources suspect militants were behind the abduction.
