“The slain terrorist has been identified as Aijaz Reshi, who was the longest-surviving militant commander. He was active since the Burhan Wani killing,” the DGP said, adding that the slain militant had carried out deadly attacks on forces.

“In February 2016, he was involved in transporting terrorists to the EDI Pampore in which eight soldiers of the Army and CRPF were killed. Reshi those days was an OGW of LeT. In June 2016, in Frestabal Pampore, he carried out an attack on the CRPF in which eight jawans died,” the DGP said.

On lawyer Babar Qadri killing last week in Srinagar city, the DGP said the investigators had got some clues in the case.

“... Hopefully, very soon the police will be able to crack it,” DGP Dilbag Singh added.

A newly-recruited militant was arrested by joint forces in the Awantiopra area of south Kashmir. The police said Faisal Ahmad Dar, a resident of Khankah Bagh Pampore, affiliated with the Lashkar, was arrested near the Konibal crossing.
