Kupwara: Terror operative held with arms

The police on Thursday said a terrorist associate had been arrested along with arms and ammunition in Lalpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. A police spokesperson stated that a joint checkpoint was laid by personnel of the Kupwara police, 28 RR of the Army and CRPF’s 162Bn at Gundimacher Bridge.

The statement mentioned that during checking, a man carrying a bag, coming from Lalpora towards Gundmacher, was noticed moving suspiciously. “Acting swiftly, the police party and security forces apprehended him tactfully as he tried to flee the spot. During preliminary questioning, the arrested man disclosed his name as Rafeeq Ahmad Ganie of Lalpora,” the spokesman stated.

During the search of the bag, a pistol, a pistol magazine, 10 rounds, two hand grenades and a mobile phone were seized. A case has been registered at the Lalpora police station and an investigation set into motion.
