Srinagar, September 18

Cricketer Suresh Raina has been roped in to hone the cricketing skills of youths here.

Raina made the announcement in this regard on Twitter today after holding meetings with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and DGP J&K Dilbag Singh.

“It gives me immense pleasure to get the support of honourable @manojsinha_ sir, had a productive meeting today with him on working towards creating a platform for sports in Jammu & Kashmir. Let’s make it bigger!” Raina tweeted.

Raina had earlier written to the DGP and offered to play a role in the promotion of cricket in J&K by identifying talented youngsters, particularly underprivileged kids.

Singh said the presence of the star cricketer in J&K would help in “connecting with people, particularly youths, thus channelising their energy in positive directions”.

As per a police statement, Raina said he wanted to promote sports among youth of J&K.
