Jammu, May 31

The Sikh community has demanded reservation of six seats through the Delimitation Commission and the formation of the minority commission.

In a press conference today, TS Wazir, president, State Gurdwara Prabandkah Board, representing the community, said since 1947, refugees in the Jammu province were made to settle in scattered areas so that the community could not get together to demand rights and representations. “Now, when PM Modi has talked about everybody’s development, we appeal that the Sikh community be represented through the Delimitation Commission and six seats be reserved for us,” said Wazir. “In the Jammu province, it has been a conspiracy to settle the Sikhs in scattered areas so that a collective voice is not raised. We want the Centre and the UT Government to give due representation to the community now,” said Wazir.
