Jammu, September 10

Various Sikh organisations organised a protest demonstration at Gandhi Nagar on Thursday against exclusion of Punjabi from the J&K Official Language Bill 2020. The protest was organised by the Supreme Sikh Organisation (SSO) in which various other groups participated.

Gurmeet Singh, chairperson, SSO, stated that the issues related to the Sikh community had been continuously ignored by every successive government. Around five lakh Sikhs and various other communities from different religions living in J&K recognised themselves with Punjabi language and they had a strong religious, spiritual, social and cultural connection with it. — TNS
