Seven arrested for abduction

Seven men were arrested for allegedly abducting a former sarpanch in a village of Kathua district, the police said on Friday. Former Sarpanch Varinder Singh, alias Bantu, was rescued by the police in an injured condition and admitted to Government Medical College Hospital.

According to a complaint filed by one Ram Saran Sharma of Marheen village of Kathua, Varinder was abducted at gunpoint in a car from Kathua’s Chann Rorian village at the behest of Kamaldeep Singh, alias Rinku. Both had an enmity over some issue, the police said.
