In a slight relief, the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir reported only three positive cases on Monday, all from Kashmir division, taking the total tally of infected persons to 109.

The three cases included two from Srinagar district and another from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir had reported 14 positive cases, all from Kashmir division.

According to the government’s daily Media Bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of the 109 positive cases, 103 were now active positive, four have recovered and two have died. Regarding their location, 85 cases are from Kashmir and 18 from Jammu division.

Furthermore, till date, 35,243 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance which included 10,556 persons in home quarantine, including facilities operated by government, 615 in hospital quarantine, 103 in hospital isolation and 17,506 under home surveillance. Besides, 6,463 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period.

So far, at least 1,708 samples have been sent for testing of which 1,583 have tested negative and 16 reports are awaited.

The government stressed upon people to take extra time and care for themselves during the Covid outbreak. It asked people to refrain from spreading rumours and pay no heed to them.
