Chandigarh, February 22

On the first death anniversary of her husband martyred Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal, the 28-year-old Nitika Dhoundiyal is all set join the Indian Army.

Nitika, the widow of Major Dhoundiyal, who lost his life in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir last year, has cleared her Short Service Commission (SSC) exam and the interview.

She is now waiting for the merit list.

Nitika shared a video of herself on Twitter and revealed the same.

“I have cleared my SSB, cleared my medical, and now I’m waiting for the merit list. As soon as it comes and I’m hoping I will make through it, I will be joining Army,” she said.

The 35-year-old Major laid down his life after an intense gun battle between terrorists in Pulwama.

General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon re-tweeted the video and wrote: “Indian Soldiers and their families are made of different steel called ‘India First.”

Nitika filled the SSC forms six months after her husband’s demise and called it her way to heal and get back to life.
