New Delhi, August 4

The government has received an intelligence input about a new terror outfit named Lashkar-e-Khalsa, which plans to launch attacks in Delhi and also in J&K before or during Independence Day celebrations, sources said.

Sources in the security establishment said the Intelligence Bureau (IB) report suggested that Lashkar-e-Khalsa had been specially formed by the Pakistan-based terror outfits with the support of the ISI.

The IB's 10-page report stated Afghan fighters were part of the group, which had been recently created, the sources said, while adding that so far intelligence officials have not found any link of the outfit with Punjab and the name has been used to “camouflage” its identity.

It said violent incidents in Rajasthan’s Udaipur and Maharashtra’s Amravati had been described in the report to show how the radical groups are active, who can create riot-like situations.

Security agencies have been advised to take extra precaution during the event at the Red Fort here to mark the Independence Day where the PM will unfurl the Tricolour. The report warned that Afghans and Sudan people in India may be attacked.
