Jammu, December 22

The Gandhinagar Mahajan Sabha today celebrated the 130th birth anniversary of the late Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan.

The event was held at Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan Park, Gandhinagar. Speakers recalled his services as the Prime Minister of J&K in facilitating the accession of the princely state with India and then as the third Chief Justice of India.

Jugal Mahajan, chief patron of Mahajan Sabha, said it was Justice Mahajan who, as a member of the Radcliffe Boundary Commission (for Punjab), ensured a road connectivity to the state through Gurdaspur, without which, accession of the state with India would not had been possible.

Later, as the PM of J&K, he was instrumental in getting the state’s accession with India, he said.
