Lone hero, man who bats with his chin, gets audience with Sachin Tendulkar... and a special gift

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar kept his promise and met differently-abled cricketer Amir Hussain Lone during his recent visit to Kashmir. Tendulkar shared a video of his interaction across his social media platforms, meeting Amir tweeting, “Keep inspiring! It was a pleasure meeting you.”

In a 3.48-minute video, Tendulkar is seen welcoming Amir in the room. Amir tells the cricket-legend of his happiness. “Aaj mujhe itne khushi hui… Zindagi mey umeed nahi haari sir, yahi soch ke mai chala ki muje jo kawab hain who pura karana hain (Today, I am very happy. I have never lost hope in my life. I moved ahead with this dream),” Amir told Sachin. He told him that his inspiration is “Sachin sir and that is you.”

Sachin responds to him by saying that you, despite meeting with an accident at the age of eight, continued playing cricket is a huge inspiration. “You don’t know what you have done,” Sachin tells him and gives him a bat written on it “Amir is a real hero.” Then Amir picks up the bat with his feet and shows how he plays with his neck with Sachin beside him.

Last month, Tendulkar shared a video of differently-abled cricketer Amir on social media. “And Amir has made the impossible possible. I am so touched watching this! Shows how much love and dedication he has for the game. Hope I get to meet him one day and get a jersey with his name. Well done for inspiring millions who are passionate about playing the sport,” Sachin posted on social media on January 12.

Amir holds the cricket bat with his neck, bowls with his feet and takes catch with his feet. When he was only seven he met with an accident in his father’s sawmill. He was rushed to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar. He remained there for two months as both his arms were amputated. Later he grappled with infection. He spent another four months in Tertiary Medical Institute in Srinagar.

When he was discharged from the hospital, the world was not the same again. Amir started watching cricket and developed an interest in the game. He often says in his interviews that Sachin was his hero from childhood.

Amir started helping himself in school and later in higher secondary. He does every work of his himself. He takes tea, removes clothes and writes with his feet. He often says his feet-writing is far better than handwriting of others.

As the years passed by, he devoted himself to cricket and bowled like other boys of the village. In 2013, he went to Delhi to play leading team against Delhi which Amir’s team won. In 2015, Amir played in Lucknow city of the UP and later he went to play in Bangladesh.
