Kishtwar SSP calls for reviving community policing

Kishtwar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Qayoom convened a comprehensive security and crime review meeting which was attended by senior police officials of the district.

The SSP addressed various critical aspects related to crime prevention, investigation and community safety. A detailed examination of recent crime trends and statistics in Kishtwar district was undertaken to identify areas of concern. The progress made in ongoing criminal investigations was also discussed to ensure timely resolution and justice for victims.

“Strategies to strengthen community policing and enhance public safety were deliberated upon, emphasising the importance of community involvement in maintaining law and order,” an official said.

The effectiveness of existing crime prevention initiatives was evaluated to optimise resources and improve outcomes. Measures to tackle drug abuse within the district were discussed, with a focus on prevention, rehabilitation, and enforcement. Strategies to curb bovine smuggling activities were reviewed, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to combat this illegal practice.

The official informed that updates on anti-militancy operations and strategies were provided, emphasising the importance of maintaining vigilance to ensure the safety and security of the region. Furthermore, it was decided that daily updates on these issues would be maintained through the E-beat book records, facilitating real-time monitoring and response, the official said.

The SSP directed the participating officers to remain extra-vigilant, strengthen checkpoints, and generate actionable intelligence so that the nefarious designs of anti-national elements can be thwarted. He further directed the officers to take the lead while conducting area domination and patrolling and speculative/ specific cordon and search operations in vulnerable areas.

“This meeting served as a crucial platform to identify challenges, share insights, and develop actionable plans,” the official said.
