Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project: World Bank project for disaster management

Funded by the World Bank, the Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP) is developing the latest scientific tool of decision support system (DSS) for effective disaster management.

The scientific tool of the DSS that is being used the world over for effective preparedness against natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, landslides, avalanches, forest fires, drought etc is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore, said a statement issued by the J&K Economic Reconstruction Agency (JKERA).

The development of the DSS by the JTFRP involves the preparation of a computer-aided system, a scientific tool for the effective information management and coordination among various emergency service departments during any natural disaster.
