Srinagar/Jammu, Sept 15

A suspected intruder was shot dead on Tuesday by the BSF in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, officials said.

Meanwhile, the BSF foiled an infiltration bid along the international border (IB) in the Samba sector late last night.

According to the BSF, their jawans tracked the movement of a group of five terrorists on the Pakistan side.

“At around 12.30 am, a group of heavily armed five terrorists was seen by alert BSF troops close to the IB on the Pakistan side,” a spokesperson said.

He said the troops asked the miscreants to stop.

“The armed terrorists fired on a BSF party. The troops, in self-defence, fired at the terrorists who were being helped by Pakistan Rangers,” the spokesperson said.

The area was illuminated and the BSF troops saw fleeing terrorists toward the Pakistan side. The area was searched, but nothing was recovered, he added.
