Heroin worth Rs 35 cr seized in Rajouri

The Rajouri police today foiled a major smuggling bid with the arrest of a drug peddler and recovered a huge consignment of 7-kg heroin-like substance, with market value of Rs 35 crore, from his possession.

A police team intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle for routine frisking, said the SSP.

During the frisking of the vehicle, the police recovered the huge consignment of the drugs that was kept hidden in the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Tariq Ahmed Ghanie, a resident of Bachro in Kashmir’s Kulgam district, was arrested on the spot and the vehicle was seized, the SSP said. — TNS
