First Ladakh patient recovers, UT now has 4 active cases

JAMMU, April 16

The first Covid positive patient of Ladakh has recovered and was discharged from the hospital on Thursday. The patient tested positive on February 28 and was under observation since then.

With this, the total number of active positive patients in Ladakh is now four, including three in Leh district. At least 14 patients — 11 in Leh and three in Kargil district — have recovered and been discharged from the hospital. The condition of all four active positive cases is stable.

According to officials, a total of 917z samples, including 528 from Leh and 389 from Kargil, were taken for testing, out of which 695 tested negative while the reports of 145 cases were still awaited. Re-sampling has been ordered in 49 cases. A total of 32,412 residents have been screened in Ladakh since January 31.

On Wednesday evening, the UT administration received reports of 32 samples and all of them were negative.

The officials said six high-risk contacts of positive cases from Shakar Chiktan block had been traced and quarantined. Their samples had also been collected.
