Drug peddler’s property worth Rs 50 lakh seized

Jammu, March 7

In a crackdown against drug menace in Jammu district, police attached property worth Rs 50 lakh of a drug peddler. Jammu police stated that the operation was conducted under supervision of Jammu SSP Vinod Kumar resulting in the seizure of property – a residential house – worth Rs 50 lakhs at Rah Salyote. This property belonged to a drug dealer identified as Rohit Dutta.

“Drug peddler Rohit Duta is presently detained under PITNDPS Act by the Akhnoor police in a warrant issued by Divisional Commissioner Jammu and is lodged in District Jail, Kathua,” an official informed.

There are many cases against the said accused including several serious cases of drug peddling, the official said.

The property, identified as proceeds of crime through illicit drug trafficking, was uncovered during an investigation and inquiry conducted by police team of Akhnoor subdivision with the help of revenue authorities.
