Jammu, January 17

The Congress organised a one-day worker’s convention at Reasi on Wednesday in which they were urged to prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The convention was held under the chairmanship of AICC general secretary and J&K Congress incharge Bharat Solanki, who appealed to the workers to work at the grass-root level and also discussed various issues of Reasi.

Issues including unemployment, Katra ropeway, fair compensation for those who shifted from Salal to any other place due to the lithium extraction project among others were discussed.

J&K Congress chief Vikar Rasool Wani, working president Raman Bhalla, and campaign committee chairman Tara Chand also addressed the workers.

Meanwhile, in a meeting of the party regarding Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, former minister Yogesh Sawhney and other leaders discussed the party strategy for the LS seat.

A spokesperson informed that this was the first interaction focused on electoral strategy for booth level. The Congress leaders strategised on enhancing the party’s presence at the grassroot level in the parliamentary constituencies. “A comprehensive tour programme was also devised for these areas, outlining plans to visit and engage with leaders and workers at the district and booth level. It was decided that tour programme will start on January 22 with Kulgam, Anantnag and Shopian district. Rajouri-Poonch will be covered on January 24 and 25,” a party leader said.

Sawhney underscored the need for a cohesive strategy that aligns with the party’s vision and resonates with the concerns of the local population. He acknowledged the critical role played by district presidents and office bearers in channeling the party’s message effectively, urging them to work collectively.
