Baramulla reports 40 fresh cases

UT sees jump of 177; Journalists to be tested for virus in Srinagar

A total of 177 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, taking the total cases to 2,341. So far, 28 persons have died due to virus in J&K, out of whom 25 have been from Kashmir and three from Jammu.

“In the UT of J&K, 177 new positive cases have been reported since our last update yesterday; 52 from Jammu and 125 from Kashmir,” read the media bulletin on Covid.

Thirty-three Covid-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals of J&K. The bulletin revealed that out of 177 positive cases, 77 were travellers, with a majority of them, 36, from Baramulla.

Baramulla reported 40 fresh positive cases, Srinagar 26, Anantnag 19, Shopian 16, Ramban 14, Udhampur 13, Budgam 10, Samba seven, Rajouri and Kathua six each, Pulwama five, Kulgam four, Kupwara and Doda three each, Jammu two and one each case was reported from Bandipora, Ganderbal and Reasi districts.

A majority of the coronavirus cases, 1,853, have been reported from Kashmir and Jammu has reported 488.

Meanwhile, journalists in Kashmir will be tested for coronavirus. The Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, in collaboration with the Kashmir Press Club, will organise a camp for testing journalists for coronavirus on Sunday.
