As part of the Army’s initiative for Ladakhi youth, the Leh-based 14 Corps has launched a project to mentor and guide children from Ladakh for entrance examinations of various medical and engineering colleges across India.

Called the “Ladakh Ignited Minds: A Centre of Excellence and Wellness”, the project will be a full-time residential programme that will run a 12-month mentoring programme for children to take entrance examination of medical and engineering colleges.

The Army would oversee the operations to include administration and logistics while Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) will be the funding partner.

An MoU was signed on Monday between the Army and Kanpur-based NGO National Integrity & Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO). Lt Gen PGK Menon, the GOC, 14 Corps, said such efforts were the result of a continuous interaction of the Army with locals.
