Srinagar, June 9
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said all pending examinations for Class XI and XII in the Union Territory had been cancelled in the wake of the Covid pandemic.
Sinha tweeted, “In view of safety and well-being of students due to the Covid pandemic, all pending Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) exams for session 2020-21 (regular/private) for Class XI and XII across the UT are cancelled.”
He said a detailed procedure for publishing of results along with a scheme of marking would be completed by the JKBOSE shortly.
Meanwhile, J&K recorded 1,098 fresh Covid cases which took its caseload to 3,03,769 while 17 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,118, officials said.
Of the fresh cases, 324 were reported from the Jammu division and 774 from the Kashmir division of the UT, they said. Srinagar district recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 254, followed by 113 in Budgam. The number of active Covid cases in J&K stands at 19,852 while 2,79,779 patients have recovered so far.
They said there were 18 confirmed cases of mucormycosis or black fungus in the UT, with one fresh case reported since last evening.
Ladakh reported 72 fresh cases of Covid taking the overall tally to 19,330. The UT has recorded 195 Covid-related deaths with 141 in Leh district and 54 in Kargil district, while 18,194 patients have recovered so far. — PTI
