290 TB cases recorded in Ramban

With a prevalence rate of 2.2% and the detection of 290 positive tuberculosis cases in Ramban district, authorities today asked for departmental collaboration and the need to identify even mild symptom cases.

Ramban Deputy Commissioner Baseer ul Haq Choudhary led a meeting to evaluate the progress made in the district’s tuberculosis eradication programme, said a government spokesperson. During the meeting, the Chief Medical Officer said that nearly 92% of the targeted 14,000 tests have been completed.

As part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, 17,000 persons underwent tuberculosis screening. Panchayat-wise categorisation shows 22 panchayats declared TB-free, 56 in the yellow zone (1-2 cases), and 22 in the red zone (5-6 cases).

The DC issued a directive for enhanced departmental collaboration and urged the need to track even mild symptom cases. He called for a district-wide awareness campaign on tuberculosis symptoms.

He also urged meticulous tracking of undetected cases and their subsequent treatment. He said the promotion of “Nikshe Mitra,” an initiative where TB patients are provided assistance for recovery, aim to bring Ramban closer to its goal of becoming tuberculosis-free.
