New Delhi, January 30

India’s representative in Kabul was on Monday photographed with Taliban leaders as he attended a conference of about a dozen countries, including Pakistan, China and Russia, convened by Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to “build a positive narrative for engagement” ahead of a UN-organised conference on Afghanistan in Qatar on February 18 and 19.

Afghanistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Hafiz Zia Ahmad said India’s representative stated New Delhi played a role in initiatives regarding Afghanistan and supported its stability.
