New Dlehi, January 19
The Congress accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of disrupting the party’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ which entered the second day in the state on Friday.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh made it clear the party wouldn’t succumb to such tactics and the yatra would continue for six days. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is in Assam, accused Sarma of being the ‘most corrupt’ CM in the country.
Addressing the predominantly tribal populace of island-district of Majuli in a brief speech soon after reaching there, he said: “Here (in Assam), the Chief Minister is the most corrupt.” He had levelled similar charges of corruption against Sarma and his government on the first day of the yatra in the state on Thursday, leading to counter-attack by the Chief Minister who termed the Gandhi family of being the ‘most corrupt’ and using a ‘duplicate’ surname.
